About Us Our chapter services King County and South Snohomish County. While many of our members hunt outside of our chapter area, we develop a community of hunters that is centered in more urban areas, and believe it or not, there is public access hunting grounds in our area. The Seattle chapter strives to protect and improve the hunting areas in our counties and conserve waterfowl habitat within our growing urban centers. It is also very important to us to introduce and educate those who do live in urban areas about the wildlife opportunities nearby and around the state. You can find some of our past and upcoming projects on the programs tab, as well as our goals for the year listed below. We are always looking for new ideas, so join today and let's get to work. | Contact Looking for more information about the Seattle chapter? Announcements
Spring – 2026
Wood duck box program
The Seattle Chapter will continue to maintain and expand the system of wood duck boxes it has deployed in the Puget Sound region. A big thanks to Bob Hazelbrook, Trevor Morris and Paul McGovern. Our February 25th meeting will be dedicated to the construction of new boxes thanks to Paul McGovern. At that meeting, we will also coordinate trips to the Snoqualmie Wildlife Areas and other sites to check and service the boxes we have deployed and to scout and hang new boxes. Come join the fun.
Duck banding
In collaboration with Kyle Spragens Waterfowl Section Manager for the WDFW, this is the second year that Seattle chapter members will be banding ducks! This is a unique opportunity to participate in a time-tested technique to monitor migrating waterfowl.
Habitat projects
The Northwest Chapter will have their annual Smith Island Clean-Up in April. This unit is a catch-all for all kinds of garbage that floats down the Snohomish River system and need for annual clean-up there is obvious. The NW Chapter has dedicated themselves to brining this area into pristine status every spring and the Seattle Chapter members are there to help. This is a great way for the WWA to give back.
Spring is the most important time of the year for most habitat and wildlife projects, and we will be discussing additional projects through the WWA and those organized by the WDFW. The WDFW is switching their online system for these projects from CERVIS to a new system that should be up and running by late Feb.
